ALGONQUIN COLLEGE

2020 and 2021 brought big changes at the Algonquin College with the construction of the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre by the Algonquin Students’ Association.  There is everything to make your stay at the College memorable: climbing wall, track, turf training and free weight areas, gym, fitness studios, interior courts (basketball, volleyball, soccer, hockey), pool tables, golf simulators, restaurant, bar and…  bowling!!!

Buffa Distribution was chosen to build this 6-lane centre for the students.  At the moment of writing this text (January 2022), these were the only tenpin lanes that could be found in Ottawa.

The whole project bears the QubicaAMF signature starting with the EDGE String pinspotters.  The ease of operation, low power consumption and savings on parts and labour were strong elements in choosing these pinsetters.  They wanted their staff to focus on service rather than repairing the lanes.

For a bold and refreshing look, they went for the white SPL Boutique lanes.  Just like the traditional lanes, they offer unparalleled performance and are approved by the federations.

The Kegel Crossfire lane machine was picked to guarantee the best playing conditions on these beautiful lanes.  Its low cost and ease of use make it a must for the centres with fewer lanes.

The DuraBowl gutters and bumpers are in a class of their own as each bowler can decide whether the want them to be activated or not.  If a child accompanies a student to bowl a game or two, everyone will have a chance to knock the pins down.

The Harmony ball returns were installed.  Their design makes them very safe and its technology allows them to run only when there are balls coming.  That results in more money in your pocket!

The masking units add a nice touch to the environment with its inspirational words printed on them.

The CenterPunch deck and capping lights bring energy to the lanes.  Nine different light animations can be customised in sequences and programmed at various times during the day.  Colour Splash lighting was added to the décor as well.

The bowler’s area allows the students to feel like being home thanks to the super comfortable Infinity sofas, coffee tables and storage areas from the Harmony collection.

Also, their experience is unequalled thanks to the BES X Ultimate scoring and entertainment system which offers 15 environments, four Mad Games, eight classic and skills games and 11 special games.  All this content is at the tip of your fingers using the SuperTouch consoles.

The students can count of the best house balls on the market with Smart Ball.  These balls come in different weights and sizes to fit everyone’s strength and hand.

On the operational side, the staff turnover is a major issue at the centre, because it is mainly composed of students.  Consequently, Conqueror X allows a simple and intuitive use of the whole system.

You know what?  If I were to go back to school tomorrow morning, I would definitely sign up at the Algonquin College.  I guess you understand why!
